WHAT DOES MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE DO?

MLD stands for manual lymph drainage – this is a specialised type of light skin massage technique which stimulates the existing lymph system into working faster and more efficiently. The body then copes better with the excess lymph which pools in the oedematous areas (often arms, legs and abdomen).

The following can be achieved:

  • Relaxation – the sympathetic system triggers the parasympathetic system to support a calming effect.
  • Analgesia – pain relief.
  • Drainage, decongestion and detoxification.
  • Immunological – supporting the lymph system which is responsible for fighting infection.
